Our Story

Chester’s Hamburgers

A San Antonio tradition, Chester’s Hamburgers has been serving old fashioned hamburgers for almost 40 years. It had always been our dream of opening up a restaurant where you could enjoy a good old fashioned burger made with the freshest ingredients. Our first location was on Fredericksburg Road, and opened in August of 1984. In 1986 we opened our second location on San Pedro in Hollywood Park. In 1989 our original location re-located to IH 10 and Wurzbach, 1989 also saw our third location open in Universal City on Pat Booker Road, and in September of 1992 we opened on Loop 410 at N. New Braunfels.

So what makes Chester’s what it is? Our burgers are one third of a pound and always cooked to order, with meat that is delivered fresh – never frozen. Our 5″ poppy seed buns are baked every day from scratch, and our fresh cut French fries are cut twice a day. And did you know we had green chili before green chili was popular? In the beginning, we had green chili shipped to us from New Mexico, because it wasn’t available in town! And for the beer lover, we have hundreds of different beers available. We also have real ice cream shakes and malts, and salads and buffalo wings for those who want something different.

We hope you can visit one of our four locations soon!
